Initial research book making diagrams 01/03

I am planning to use my paperback copies of the books and make new covers for them. The books will take the place of the book blocks. Looking at these diagrams has helped me understand the technical terms for bookmaking and different types of binding. I need to consider how to attach the paperbacks to the hardcovers and if I even need to do this. When I start sketching and making practice covers I will try this.

The exposed pages have a very handmade feel but won't work for my project because the spine of the paperback would show, I wonder if I could do this as a small thin concertina so the paperback could hide behind however this might affect the structure.
